The Institute of Historical Geography has three professors/researchers. Among them, one is Lecturers of National Key Courses; one is Beijing Outstanding Lecturers; one is Beijing Municipal Government Counselor.

This institute examines various geographical phenomena from the historical perspective and its changing process, known as a branch of geography. The main focuses include: urban historical geography, historical environment change research, historical population geography, historical agricultural geography, and geography thought history. This institute has long contributed not only to academic research but also to the national strategic needs.
