The College of Urban and Environmental Sciences(CUES)focuses on gcography and many related disciplines such as ecology, environmental science, urban and rural Planning etc.The rescarch and teaching of the college are highly multidisciplinary, covering issues falling into science, social science and engineering.

Based on the influential works of Prof. Renzhi Hou and some other pioncer scholars, a new gencration of young scholars have become key figures in a wide range of fields such as geography, environmental studies, ecology, urban and regional planning, and economic geography in China and worldwide. They have pushed forward the boundaries of geography and ecology based on Chinese experiences, and made substantial contribution to China's sustainable development in practice.
